Outings

At then moment the Outings team are busy planning and delivering against its 2025 programme. Looking ahead we have a Cream Tea on the Bluebell Railway in September and a Christmas Outing. More details of these Outings will be publicised when dates have been confirmed and members will then be able to book. All outings will be notified through the bulletin.



We will continue our practice of asking all members to confirm they have read the Terms and Conditions before signing up for an outing. A copy may be viewed HERE and a hard copy will be available to read when booking an outing at monthly meetings.

Bluebell Railway Steam and Cream Tea

An opportunity to visit the popular Bluebell Railway and enjoy a cream tea on board. Coach departing Reigate and Redhill (approx 11.30am) to arrive at Sheffield Park station with time to relax and visit the attractions. The Locomotive shed and interactive display, museum, gift and model shop should be available. The Bessemer Arms offers light snacks, full meals and drinks; there is also a picnic area if you wish to bring your own lunch.

The highlight of the visit is a return journey on a steam train, departing Sheffield Park station at 2.40pm enjoying a cream tea (scone and tea or coffee) whilst travelling to East Grinstead and back. Gluten free and vegan options may be available if requested at the time of booking.

Kindly note this is a working station; you should be prepared to walk along platforms, and use the bridge crossing to the platforms. There will be a step up to gain access to the train. Return by coach leaving Sheffield Park at 4.40pm.

Cost £47 to include coach travel, steam train ride and Cream Tea.

A Day at the Seaside in Margate

Visit Margate, a timeless English Seaside holiday town on the Kent Coast. Combining Old World charm with 21st  century culture. The day is yours to fill, with many attractions available, including Turner Contemporary, Dreamland, Shell Grotto, The Caves and Walpole Tidal Pool. Maybe bring your swimming costume for a swim or just a paddle. Plus other galleries including Tracey Emin TKE Studios.

You will have plenty of free time to do just what you want. Margate has numerous dining options, not just fish and chips. A full day out by coach, leaving 9am returning from Margate at 4.30pm.
