Philosophy 2
2nd & 4th Tuesdays 10:00 to 12:00
A Group member's house
In our discussions of Philosophy we usually all follow a book with individual members introducing chapters in turn. We have moved on from Political Philosophy to early philosophical introductions including Descartes' "Meditations" and Bertrand Russell's "Problems of Philosophy. Currently we are reading "Metaphysical Animals". An account of how four exceptional Women Graduates, including Elisabeth Anscombe and Iris Murdoch, changed the face of Oxford University Philosophy in the 1940's and 50's. This unfamiliar story has been a source of lively discussions.
