Mathematics

Do you have an interest in Mathematics? We are a group catering for those who do, whether it stems from the use of maths in past working life, or is simply a fascination with this intriguing subject.
At our monthly meetings, a group member will give a talk on a maths topic that interests them. Questions and discussions are very much part of this. Our range is wide-from focusing on the achievements of a famous mathematician many centuries ago, to taking a look at more recent developments in the subject. Over the last few years, topics have included differential equations, maths in music, orbits and escape velocity, polyhedra and special relativity. When possible, talks cover how maths relates to something familiar in the real world.
