Bygones and Collectables

There is no need to have a collection to join our very friendly group. Each month a volunteer does some research on a subject and if we can, we bring relevant objects or, if a member has a collection, we are very interested to hear about it.

We learn about the history and use of bygones such as cutlery and writing materials. Subjects can be medals, ceramics, maps, clocks, snuff boxes, silver, Japanese prints, tools and many more. Memories are triggered and by rummaging in cupboards and drawers we sometimes find interesting objects we had forgotten about. Occasionally members are challenged by a mystery bygones quiz.

We also have an annual visit to a museum, antiques fair, NT house or auction rooms followed by a pub lunch.
