Architecture 3

My name is Phyllis Hughes and I have volunteered to help set up the new architecture group.
Following the format of the two established groups, meetings could focus on visits to suitable places such as Charterhouse in London, Battersea Power Station and the Barbican as well as more local outings to Sackville College in East Grinstead or a guided tour around Dorking town centre to learn about the architecture there.
As with all U3A groups it will be up to members to make suggestions and agree a programme. There may also be interest in the occasional talk to investigate general architecture issues such as the building of new towns from the philanthropic developments of Port Sunlight and Bournville to the construction of the post war era at Crawley and Milton Keynes.
These are just suggestions and I hope that you will find something here that appeals and you will come up with your own ideas for the group.
