u3a during covid - update Sept 2021

September 2021

We are planning to be back at Reigate Park Church in person on Friday 1 October.

However, we will also make the talk available to members at home remotely through an online link.

Those who attend in person will be asked to demonstrate that they are double vaccinated or have had a recent negative COVID-19 test. To keep everyone safe, those without this evidence will not be admitted. Please do not embarrass the welcome team by coming without this documentation.

Whilst moving round the building all will be asked to wear a face covering and the welcome team will prevent ‘pinch points’ or overcrowding - as it used to be called! - on entry and exit. We are basing these requirements on the Risk Assessment carried out within the current national guidance and terms and conditions of the venue.

To help us manage the process as smoothly as possible we would like to have advance knowledge of how many people will participate by completing this form

The National guidance for u3a activities sections 3 and 4 can be found by clicking HERE . Your attention is particularly drawn to section 4.7.

As we move towards opening up our activities and resuming face to face meetings, it is imperative that we follow the government guidance as we move through the steps of lockdown easing. Their aim is to be guided by the evidence at each step of the road map and we must follow their lead and recommendations at all times, remaining vigilant and flexible to their latest guidance whilst planning for the return journey for the members in our various interest groups.

To summarise the u3a procedure for resuming an activity or interest group is as follows:-

  1. Inform the committee of your plans and preparations for resuming

  2. Where appropriate download and follow a relevant Risk Assessment from a National Governing Body for your sporting activity or use an appropriate u3a risk assessment template for your activity.

  3. Inform your members of what to expect and how to prepare for returning

  4. Ask members to complete a personal assessment (pre-attendance) before attending.

  5. Please ensure you are following the most current government guidance on social distancing, and maintaining Covid-secure requirements at all times. For instance, you may be required to continue to keep a register of participants for 21 days after the activity for Track and Trace beyond the roadmap.
